Indian Tribe Opens Casino

Published on: April 19, 2008

The tribes name means ‘boiling water’ and they are excited to announce the launch of their new Agua Caliente Casino in California, an Endeavour that has been long in coming.  Situated next to the Rancho Mirage, the new resort is a 16 story, 340 guest room hotel and casino resort that cost $300 million to build over the last two years.  Already it is being considered at four star establishment complete with spa facilities that is 10,500 square feet.  A 2,000 seat concert and entertainment venue is supposed to be finished by the end of 2008.

The rooms are full of amenities such as high-quality sheets, bathroom treats and in-room entertainment.  Everyone who has been in one of the resorts 340 rooms has already stated that they are better than the average casino resort fair.  There are also a number of restaurants in the establishment that have rated high on the service scale as well, kicking up the bar for other casinos that will be added to the area.

General Manager Scott Cooper is hoping that guests to Agua Caliente find that they have plenty of things to do and will have a ‘complete experience’ while staying there.  In addition to the spa, there is also a 50,000 square foot pool area and 10,000 feet of conference room facilities for business meetings.  3,000 guests were invited to attend the opening gala on April 18, 2008.  So far, 300 jobs have been added to the community, and the citizens are extremely welcome for them.

The casino is being opened by the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians and it is located just off of Interstate 10 between the casino resorts in Indio and Morongo casino in Cabazon.  The Las Vegas style games that are featured on the casino floor are some of the most popular in the nation and it is quickly becoming apparent that Las Vegas and Atlantic City are no longer the gambling capitals of the United States.

The interior of the hotel and casino are decorated with Native American imagery that tasteful without being ostentatious.  Currently the management has no idea if they will have a constant big name star in house at the entertainment center or if they will book celebrities based on patron interest.

Friday night’s celebration and grand opening was kicked off with a super fireworks display that the public was invited to attend while watching VIPs and celebrities see the casino for the first time since it was finished.
