Doyles Room Opts For US Market Software
Published on: January 25, 2009
With a new president in office, the United States may find itself opening up their doors for online gambling if regulations are put into place. One of the leading online casinos that are preparing for this possibility is Doyle’s Room, and they may be leading a new trend in online gambling as they made the decision to switch their software provider to one that will allow them to return to the American online gambling market. This week the website sent e-mails to all of their patrons alerting them to the fact that they have made a major change to their website, shifting their gaming focus from games on the Microgaming network to the Cake Poker network.
The Microgaming network withdrew their services from the American market in November 2008 in an effort to avoid any legal action, especially after the court case in Kentucky where the governor of the state attempted to seize 141 online casino domains. All of the websites that were powered by Microgaming were required to ban all new players from the United States per the companies ruling. Studies, however, have shown that close to half of all online casino and poker gaming is done by American players, and since Doyle’s Room is still considered a fledgling website they need all the help they can get and as big a base to draw on as possible.
In an effort to build up their network, Doyle’s Room has decided to become a member of Cake Poker network. Cake has blocked all players from Kentucky as they were one of the networks with domain names that were looking to be seized. Players from the rest of the United States that allows online gaming – 11 states in addition to Kentucky do not allow online gaming – are welcome to become members of the site. There is currently no word about whether or not either network will return to offering services to players in Kentucky.
There are rumors circling the online gaming community that other online casinos may follow Doyle’s Room’s choice to move to a software provider that is still allowing American players to join, such as Cake Poker. Playboy Casino has already announced that they will be shutting down their online website after struggling for the last two years to survive after the American ban. The Playboy site is one of the most exploited brand names in the United States, and when the Cryptologic network that powers Playboy Casino dropped American players after the UIGEA was passed the website started losing money.
Currently gaming solutions from Rival Gaming and Wizard Gaming are offering online casino websites new and innovative networks for their games and they are currently serving American players, giving websites who wish to offer their services to American players a new place to go.
