Another Casino Says GoodBye to US Market

Published on: May 31, 2007

The US has lost another big player in the online casino industry. The Microgaming powered casino Roxy Palace has decided that it is time to remove itself from the unstable US market and focus their energy’s on promoting their brand to the rest of the world.

Roxy, along with other affiliated casinos – Casino Splendido, Roxy Poker and Dream Poker – who will also leave the US, are just another of the many online gambling destinations who were driven out of the market when the UIGEA was passed and the crackdown against online wagering commenced in America.

Once, the majority of the market for the online gambling industry, the US market is now scarce (due to many obstacles in place to keep players from taking part in this global pass time). And for online casinos like Roxy it doesn’t seem worth the trouble anymore.

"The contribution of bets from U.S. players currently comprises an insignificant amount to the group and most affiliates have low exposure to that market,” according to a statement recently sent out to Roxy affiliates.

The departure from the US for all four entities will officially take place on June 1st – only a few days after the decision was released to the public. US clients will need to swiftly drain or empty their accounts.

In preparation, Roxy and the other sites have already established websites in a number of different foreign languages and say that more are on their way. Some of the languages already out there(depending on which site you visit) include, English, French, German, Italian, Dutch, Swedish and/or Greek.
