Playtech Tequila Poker
Published on: July 13, 2011
Tequila Poker is a card based gambling game from the portfolio of Playtech. It offers two possible ways to win. The interesting and challenging aspect is that the player has to exclusively opt for one of the ways before seeing all the cards.
Tequila Poker is played with a single standard 52-card deck. The game begins with the player placing the ante wager in the Ante circle on the table layout. He then clicks the deal button. Four cards are dealt face up. On the basis of these cards the player must choose whether to play High Tequila or Tequila Poker or to fold. If the player decides to wager on one of the two options then a second main bet, equal to the Ante bet, will automatically be placed in the Bet circle. Another two cards will be dealt face up. The five best cards out of six make up the final hand. The cards are so rearranged that the first five cards make up the best hand. If the player chooses to fold then he will lose the Ante bet.
High Tequila wins if the hand value of the final hand is 46 or more. The individual cards are valued in the same way as in blackjack. The number cards are valued at their face value, the picture cards are valued at 10 and the ace is always counted as 11. The lowest card is disregarded, and the sum of the card values of the highest five cards is the hand value. If the hand value is less than 46 then both bets lose. If the player gets a winning High Tequila hand, the Ante bet pays even money and the main bet pays according to the payout table on the left of the screen. The greater the hand value is, the larger the payout will be. A total of 46 pays even money on the main bet and the highest possible total of 54 pays 200 to 1 on the main bet.
In Tequila Poker, the cards are used to make up the best possible five-card poker hand automatically. The remaining card is disregarded. Tequila Poker wins if the poker hand is at least a pair of aces. If the player does not get a winning hand then he loses both bets. If the player gets a winning hand, the Ante bet pays even money and the main bet pays according to the payout table on the right of the screen. A pair of aces pays even money on the main bet and a royal flush pays 200 to 1 on the main bet.
Tequila Poker has to be played with optimal strategy for the best results. The optimal strategy is devised through computer simulation and is quite complicated. Players new to Tequila Poker at Playtech online casinos can effectively use the following basic strategy. If the first four cards dealt show any pair, or four to any flush or straight (including an inside straight) the player should opt for the Tequila Poker bet. If the highest three cards total 28 or more then the player should opt for the High Tequila bet. If none of the conditions are met the player should fold. If both conditions are met the player can take an intuitive call. Tequila Poker can be played at all Playtech online casinos like Mansion Casino, Omni Casino and Casino Tropez.
