Bingo Sites and online casinos have recently come under new regulations.  The government is beginning to charge taxes for the online casinos with bingo and bingo sites.  The industry wants to fight against the tax hike they are now seeing.  In fact some in the industry staged a protest at Westminster last week.

Players and bingo site employees stood in front of the House of Parliament to voice their opinion of the tax hike.  The government has increased the tax from 15 percent to 22 percent.  The tax for bingo sites is higher than that of poker or online casinos.  Even sports betting sites don’t have to pay as much.  

As a result of the high taxation some of the separate bingo sites are having to close their virtual doors.  They are only asking that the tax be more reasonable.  For sites that have bingo they are seeing a little bit more in online casino taxes, but it is still not as much as a plain bingo site.

After the campaign to get the tax reduced the tax is now in debate status again.  Already there have been five amendments to the Finance Bill.  The online bingo industry is hopeful this time around that the tax will be set at a better rate.  After all by hurting the industry there will be less places to tax soon, and that negates part of the reason for it.

The bingo sites provide 17,000 people with jobs.  By hurting the industry and causing job losses that puts more of a strain on the economy.  The online casinos, sports betting, and poker places online are just as unhappy with the new taxes.  While they may not see as high a tax they are still being affected by the changes.

They will also see some closures if the taxes become too problematic.  In fact some poker sites have already closed as a result of the increase in taxes.  So, it is not just the bingo sites that are suffering in the online industry.

Time will tell if the bingo sites will be able to get the break they need.  The government does feel that stricter taxes are needed for more than just making a bit of money.  They are hoping for better regulation.  Bingo sites have casino games, so that will also affect the online casino industry if their separate sites have to close down.
