The newest trend in cellular technology, the iPhone, went on sale last Friday in the US and sales for its opening weekend may have been twice as much as projected.  The sleek new multi-media device by Apple offers many great features, such as a camera, a multimedia player for music and videos, the ability to surf the net and send e-mails and text messages and a touch screen user-input.  

Although the iPhone may be superior to its competition, some may find that there is one slight disadvantage.  Those who enjoy using their mobile device for gambling activities may encounter a bit of an issue as most mobile gambling platforms are not compatible with the iPhone.  

The majority of the mobile gaming software out there rely on Java and Flash applications to run games via the mobile network, but the iPhone, which only runs on Apple applications, does not support Java and Flash.  

"Like the iMac, Safari is the Internet browser built into the iPhone," said a manager from the online casino Slotland.com, John Lancelot,  "Officially, no third-party applications will be allowed to be installed on the Apple device so the web browser will likely be the only way to access casino games on an iPhone."

This statement is not bad news for the previously mentioned online casino, Slotland.com, that features 15 unique slotgames on their website and offers mobile slot players the ability to play five of the best ones via their phones.  The games at Slotland were developed using html/xhtml technologies that are in fact compatible with the Apple technologies.

The software was also designed to work well on web television browsers which translates to working great on the iPhone because of the gadgets customized trimmed–down browser requirement.

"Like a lot of people, we've been waiting for the iPhone for a long time because it has higher resolution, better quality, more graphical features and the touchscreen is going to be great for playing slots" exclaimed Lancelot.
