Poker Camp To Be Held In January

Published on: December 29, 2008

Online poker room PokerStars has decided to hold a second poker camp after the first one was a major industry success.  The second camp will be held from January 7 to 9, 2009 in the Caribbean.  Called the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure, the camp will be held in the Bahamas at the Atlantis Hotel and Casino during the Caribbean Adventure event.  The first poker camp was held at the PokerStars.com EPT in Barcelona earlier in 2008.

For the three days the poker camp will be held, qualified participants will take part in morning and afternoon poker modules.  Each module will be led by well known players who are part of Team PokerStars and include Greg Raymer, Daniel Negreanu, Chris Moneymaker and Vanessa Rousso.  In addition to the players, which include two former World Series of Poker Main Event champions, one of the top female poker players in the world, and a four time bracelet winner, world-class poker instructors will be on hand to teach the modules which will include learning some of the tricks of the trade from the very best in the business.

The modules at the poker camp will combine presentations, lectures, and interactive sessions which include things such as live hand analysis.  The activities are designed to be flexible and the way the schedule of modules has been set up, participants will be able to mix and match their classes so that they can learn about methods in the areas of their own personal interest.  One of the modules includes a session that focuses on large field, deep stack, and live tournament play similar to the competitions found at the PCA Main event.  This will help 60 players at a time who will be involved in the camp tournament, and the session includes teaching players about the tournament structure including the chance to allow the players to put to test the methods and techniques each player learns earlier in the day.

At the end of all of the learning modules, all of the camp’s participants will be able to put into practice everything they learned in an exclusive tournament that is open only to PokerStars poker camp participants.  Interested parties can earn a spot at the camp by direct buy-in through PokerStars.com using their PokerStars currencies which include FPPS and W$.  They can also qualify through online poker satellite games for as little as $11 buy-in.

Guests of the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure qualifiers are also eligible to participate in the poker camp which means friends and family members that accompany the qualifiers can participate in sessions that are open to a wider audience.  Some of the sessions will be for the qualifiers only.  Some of the sessions open to guests include a Poker 101 class that teaches the difference between odds and outs in addition to sessions designed for the more advanced poker player.

Anyone interested in the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure poker camp is encouraged to visit PokerStars.com for more information.
