AOL And Games.com Sponsoring WSOP Seats

America Online (AOL) has announced that their Games.com website will be awarding six lucky poker players with seats to the World Series of Poker Main Event in Las Vegas.  The huge Internet corporation located in the United States is offering their players a free, online no limit Texas Hold’Em tournament on their Games.com’s World Series of Poker hub, Games.com/poker.  Between now and June 15, 2008, players can try for one of the coveted seats.

The six top players who qualify will win a seat to the World Championship No Limit Texas Hold’Em event that will be held on July 2, 2008.  In addition to the seat at the WSOP tables, travel and accommodations from locations within the United States to Las Vegas will also be provided.  Since cash gaming in the United States has been limited due to the restrictions placed by the government, AOL is offering the chance for free.

"Free-play online poker continues to be one of our most popular categories on Games.com," stated Greg Mills, the director of AOL Games.   "We are thrilled to continue our exclusive agreement with Harrah's License Company, LLC the owner of the World Series of Poker to provide a chance for users to win a poker player's dream come true – a seat at the table with Poker professionals. And if they play their cards right, they could walk away with millions."

Like many other qualifier tournaments being run by other online poker rooms, AOL’s tournaments will run over the course of the next six weeks.  Players can take a chance to win in the free daily qualifying tournaments which will then allow them to play in a Sunday ‘Winner-Takes-All’ tournament.  The winners get an entry pass to the WSOP, and travel accommodations from anywhere in the United States to the 2008 World Series of Poker No-Limit Texas Hold’Em Championship.  The championship is being held at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas and starts on July 3, 2008 barring any problems.

According to Jeffrey Pollack, who is the Commissioner of the World Series of Poker, "For the past three years, AOL has offered amateur poker players something they can't find anywhere else – a free opportunity to play at the World Series of Poker Main Event.  We are excited to continue our alliance with AOL to offer anyone over the age of 21 a shot at becoming part of poker history."
